Coloring - Part 4

While I can keep idle for ages for other sections of this blog, the coloring one must be done straight away, since I want to keep track of different stages and have to upload the pics more or less straight away.

Here I still got some inspiration from #tinpokeleaf tiles.

Pokeleaf, Tipple. 8 March 2026

Also adding the version taken with daylight, since the coloring is quite different and more similar to the real one!

I did not want to color or shade the rest of the tile. Somehow I like it like this.

I worked on it at my tangle meeting, I need to work on it further with better lighting, the orange stain is pretty subtle and the shading and highlight done so far do not help much.
Paradox. 8 March 2026

I started following a tutorial by Christina Carroll, but I had to wait for the tile to dry out. I used india ink instead of watercolors.

And here the background!

Done with black ink.

Added some shadow, with charcoal pencils. Brown and dark green.

Added highlight with white and yellow charcoal pencils, white gelly roll, and a green metallic gel pen. The metallic pen will look different with natural light... and maybe also in general when it dries out a bit. Oh, and almost forgot it, added some shadow wiht a grey felt tip pen, that indeed only darkens a tiny bit with a colored background.

Not so super conviced of this tile. I mean, it is nice, but I am not so sure taht adding all these layers indeed added to the tile, or rather took some of the background away. I think I want to be effective and reach similar or better results with less effort! :D

And this is the same tile with daylight. Probably with less filters. It is also interesting!

I loosely followed the following video by Tracy Anne Wilkinson. Some time ago I also followed her for shading.

She actually does not use any ink above the pencils. Sakura microns and probably gelly rolls do not write there, but I own all sorts of pens, Sakura are only a fraction. And then I put some ink everywhere!

Here I used simply the pencil and a purple fineliner.

Here I added water to my charcoal pencils, and discovered it works!

Mooka, Srose, Sez. 11 March 2026

And here the most of the drawing was done with blending the charcoal pencils.

Possibly I like it better here, but it has this non-finished look.

Quite messy after adding black all over.

A normal eraser works wonders on filthy borders.

It got better after putting hair spray!
Flux. 11 March 2026

I think I will redo this tile some times with the flux with the same colors and a different background.

And then, I started checking some tutorials, but was completely uninspired.

I thought I could try to make some snails with my colored tiles, like I mentioned to a tanglefriend.

Copada, Tipple, Flux. 14 March 2026

Shattuck. 14 March 2026

This tile has lots of layers. Some look like Ravel or something, I will mention only Cadent.

Fun thing, here only some lines are coming through the white.

Cadent. 14 March 2026

I did not add extra shading. Hmmm. I have to learn to do it on my own, without following tutorials!

And then as did previously, I decided to fill the rest of the two pages I had with smaller tiles. I love it, because it makes me work on sizes I usually ignore.
Toodles, Gelijoy, Tipple. 14 March 2026

Surround Flowr, Tipple. 14 March 2026

Here I could have done some shading with a grey felt tip pen...

Actually, I was doing Crescent Moon with the pencil under before blending it, but it is no more recognizsble.
Sez. 14 March 2026

Last but not least, the full pages.

This post obviously spans over more days. I tangle a lot, but not days in a row without breaks! :D I sleep sometimes, I have a job, and sometimes I also meet people every now and then.
