Uaso - spreading wings and tails all around

I arrived just some hours ago at my CZT seminar in Munich, but I will talk about it in more detail in another post (or more) after digesting everything. So many people around, so many languages (one of my passions, as some of you could already know)... and a long long way to the hotel.

Here you can find one of my go-to patterns when I have to fill space. Lately, at least. I came up with it at a dinner with friends, I surely told a bit about it with my last bookmark post.
Uaso is actually a kind of transliteration of oiseau, bird in French. Easy as that.

Uaso, Tipple, Corfo, Fronde, Printemps, Flux, Gelijoy, Marasu, Tripoli, Moon Pie. 15 January 2026

Oh, this is the first pattern I added to my pattern book this year. I have not worked on my pattern sketchbook extensively, since I have been doing a part of project pack 28 and working mostly on my reference catalog.
I have many patterns to add, many new in the tea bag envelopes I did not add yet, many in my brain storming pages. My pen is slower than my mind, and my blogging is slower than my pen. It is a kind of circle, but do not know if I should call it a vicious, a virtuous or a crazy circle. I would go for the crazy circle.

If you still find Uaso challenging, check out this post where I explain what I did step by step!

And now, some examples taken here and there from my blog.

Uaso, Manair, Printemps, Surround Flowr. 6 January 2026

Printemps, Trelina, Uaso, Tipple, Kikiriki, Keena. 18 January 2025

Uaso, Marasu, Wadical. 12 January 2026

Uaso, Printemps, Sez. 12 January 2026

Uaso, Silk Pods, Mrth, Doodah, Crescent Moon, Tritri. 13 January 2026

Printemps, Circus, Uaso, Fleurina. 20 December 2025

Surely I have tangled it in other places, but... you will see it later! That's why I put the labels and keep the search function in my blog!

  1. I LOVE IT!!! I will absolutely be playing with this one!

It’s lovely that you’re documenting your Zentangle journey, and I’m sure tanglers to come will appreciate your attention to detail in naming all the patterns. I love seeing how other people use tangle patterns I struggle with!

    1. Hi Carrie! Thanks for the kind words!
And happy you like my Uaso, it was a little wonder when it came out of my pen.
Let me see how you tangled it! Links here, in our FB group or in mosaic are superwelcome (I am marziottangle_CZTEU9 there)
What patterns are you struggling with?
