This pattern, have I already talked about it?

Castelli is the hometown of my mother. It is in the mountains in Abruzzo. It is known worldwide for its ceramics, if you visit any museum of decorative arts in Europe you will find some ceramics from Castelli, at least I did so far!

They do very complex designs, but the easiest yet nicest one (in my opinion) is the "Fiore castellano" (flower from Castelli). My mother was also painting them when she was a teen to earn a bit of extra money. My version here, called Castelli like the town, is actually a memory of the flower, a bit simplified, but you can also draw the right fiore castellano and call it Castelli or Fiore Castellano.

However you call it, however you draw it, I am happy to share this small piece of my family history.

I started this drawing a few hours ago, at my last "Zentangle Together". I just started, but I like how the curly stems make the pattern a bit more intricated yet light and gentle. I don't want to repeat the same pattern in the whole page, I will have to look for something a bit ephemeral to fit with the vibe of the page. :)

About Shading

I have been struggling with shading. At the beginning of my tangle adventure, I simply skipped shading. Then I started doing it every now and then, when I felt inspired. Now I am following the Zentangle Primer 1 and I feel like I must do it. And then I reached chapter 4. Shading. My hope was that all secrets about shading would have been unveiled, but I felt like they weren't. Since I did not want to go to Chapter 5 without being a bit better at shading, and still had two tiles to fill a page of 6, I was checking the web. Uaso - spreading wings and tails all around

I arrived just some hours ago at my CZT seminar in Munich, but I will talk about it in more detail in another post (or more) after digesting everything. So many people around, so many languages (one of my passions, as some of you could already know)... and a long long way to the hotel. Here you can find one of my go-to patterns when I have to fill space. Lately, at least. I came up with it at a dinner with friends, I surely told a bit about it with my last bookmark post.
