When life gives you lemons, make them Agru

As many tangle Patterns, also Agru is pretty simple.

It reminds an orange or a lemon in its standard form, but like the most of my patterns, its variations can make it pretty different.

Just starting with the deconstruction, for once.

Agru, Popri, Fescu, Harp, Knightsbridge. ~25 July 2025

Here one of my several training pages, where I put tangles more or less randomly to fill the page, but do not indeed look for a balance and a real design, I simply fill space with a lot of new and some old tangle patterns.
Noodle, Rixty, Agua, Star-ING. 27 June 2025

I tried to assemble them in a more organised fashion here. Then I wanted something that gave again the wave idea.
Noodle, Star-ING. 27 June 2025

I tried to convey the wave idea with a lot of deformed Star-ING, but somehow having many is distracting, they are not enhancing each other but rather cancelling in the chaos. Maybe I should have alternated a line of bright Star-ING and a line of dark Star-ING to convey the movement that I wanted.
Star-ING. 27 June 2025

I played with it in the sketchbook I usually bring on me. I still found difficult to convey the idea of movement I wanted with Star-ING, but then I have some oranges in the back, and they are easy and round and stack well and add to each other in a group. I found some material. I have not found to this day a tangle like this. But maybe the pattern was indeed too simple and too representative, who knows.
Star-ING, Agru. 27 June 2025

If you wonder the reason of the green stain, the page on the right is one of my watercolour pages. I put the watercolour background on 20 June, I do not have pictures in my phone that tell me when I did the drawing.
I do not remember the name of the bigger flowers. Let's see if somebody here or in some groups can tell me that.
Akebia, Mooka, Side-Winder, Scara. 20-30 June 2025

In the end, I still loved to have Star-ING there, but recognized it would have been too stressful to stack several of them, and so, let it be Agru.
Noodle, Agua, Star-ING, Agru. 28 June 2025

The name Agru comes from Agrume, simply, that is the Italian for citrus fruit. It did not take long to get the name. Some names go through a longer decision process, or I do some funny stuff to find the name.

Last but not least, my first deconstruction on copy paper.
