FuzFur, fold it tender

And now, we start with doing difficult stuff. I had to skip a page in my pattern sketchbook, since it was not full yet, and went to the only completed page. You know, it takes time to fill a page, and I usually go for the ones that I am inspired with. Sometimes a pattern catches me and it is easier and faster to finish it, maybe I just came up with it and I am all excited. Or it is easy, fast to draw, it fills space fast. Like this one!

Why did I choose the name FuzFur? This is a bit of a furry thing, and then I reminded one of the moves of this tap game in Cal Games, Fuzzy Furry. Has anybody played it on their Commodore 64 when they were younger? Or maybe lately with an emulator?

In some cases the pattern reminds a bit Bailarine by Eni Oken. But FuzFur is drawn starting from the short side and goes longer, at least in my interpretation.

It can look like a shell, like an armor, like some folded paper, like so many things!

In the brain storming page I managed to do an almost perfect circle. :D

Fenomena - a phenomenal wannabe anemone!

We are reaching the end of the patterns that are completed on my pattern sketchbook. Some are WIP (Work In Progress, for the ones that are not familiar with development jargon) and some are still in the embrional phase and only in my brainstorming pages (where sometimes there is only a small piece of squared paper glued there with one small tangle).

Fenomena, it is not really a phenomen but... it is almost Anemone read the other way, with an extra letter at the beginning. :) The flower does not look exactly like an anemone, but the name sticked anyway!

Fenomena, Zedbra, Printemps, In-Or-Out, Gelijoy, Bamboline, Sez, Flux. 17-29 October 2025

Here the tea bag envelops from yesterday in the ensemble version I usually send to my mother... :D I had to train Fenomena a bit to finish the page!

Flost - a Starflower

Finally, the last pattern inspired by Cochombrós. A flower, a star, and then the two words together become Flost.

Hosopli - if you want to ignite

And here another pattern. This is an old friend, I introduced it as an element of FanFan, while training to draw it Borgoid Kaspah came out, and I have the feeling that the main black design with dots will inspire more and more patterns.

Why Hosopli? Here for the name I did a bigger stretch than usual. I thought at the word girino, the Italian for tadpole. Then I took the next vowels or consonants in the alphabet. Hosopu... I did not like it, so I modified the ending to my liking.

I drew it in quite some tea bag envelopes, but for more ideas check also the already linked Borgoid  Kaspah and FanFan!

Tea Bag Envelopes - Part 30

Only a few tea bags today.

Because of that, I will repeat the last one from the last set, because it is the one that started a trend.

Suan, Printemps. 23 October 2025

I started with some Suan, drew a kind of pond around any of them, I added some waves, I added some orbs touching the existing elements, I added Printemps touching the orbs, I auraed the orbs where there was no Printemps, and then added black rays.

I did not do exactly the same in the following tea bag envelopes, but I followed the scheme of doing some freeform tangles, and then drawing some geometric patterns or simple forms repeatedly around those first freeform tangles.

Borgoid, Wurf, Moon Pie, Fescu. 24 October 2025

This one was actually inspired by a friend that asked to pass her festive tangles and I drew a festive version of my Pingu.

Pingu, Jetties, Arik, Ahh. 24 October 2025

And back to the freeform technique. They are not usual tangles, but I like them, they look like this wrapping paper with several patterns mixed together. In my past life I actually did a job interview for a company where I should have done the job of "cutting" images with photoshop for wrapping paper. And then I cut motorcycles to paste them to a background with a perfect blue sky!
Trelina, Printemps. 24 October 2025

I will use again this technique, I get interesting results.

PeekNeek - cosy like a picnic blanket

And here we are with another pattern loosely inspired by Cochombrós.

PeekNeek, since the pattern over the petals at some point looks like a picnic blanket. Then you should fill it, but you know there was that blanket under your ink!

Tea Bag Envelopes - Part 29

And here most of the tea bag envelopes I have tangled this week. I have been training some of the Cachombrós inspired patterns, and some more recent patterns. There's really few left, but you know my obsession for sending posts with around 20 patterns.

I tried to use the PeekNeek parts as a grid to fill with fragments. I had to modify some to fit there!

I like Gelijoy a lot. It seems simple and a bit boring at first sight, but when you see it in groups it gets a life of its own!

I love Efeu, it became one of my favourites as soon as I saw it! Love at first sight!
Did I mention that tonight I witnessed a marriage proposal by chance at a restaurant? Surely not!
It was from a long time couple sat at my same table, and the woman proposed. Their adult son was also there. At first I was not believing what I was listening, but... that indeed happened! :D

Soffi - Softie Soft Flower

And yet another pattern inspired by Cochombrós.

They all came out naturally, and sometimes when I draw and try out these patterns they melt together and have something of a pattern and something of another. I have another one or two in my pattern sketchbook, but I will not add more afterwards unless I find something unique. Who knows, I always end up drawing new patterns. Or existing patterns that I do not know! :D

As for the name, Soffi is a shortening for soffice, soft in Italian. Nothing incredibly fancy. When you have often new patterns you have to find easy and fast ways to name them, following any possible thought thread.

My Third "Zentangle Together"

Yesterday I finally shaded the drawings from last Sunday meeting and so, it is time for the post about the third Zentangle Together!

I was expecting an experienced tangler but she did not show up. The bad part is that I prepared a little less about drawing beginner tangles, and had to improvise. I thought that with an experienced tangler around we would have alternated proposing ideas and things that could fit in our tangles.

But you know, you can plan as much as you want, but life is what happens between, despite, inside and outside of your plans.

There was the girl that attended the second meeting and an old friend of mine.
The girl had a whole A4 started the last time, so the plan with her was to fill that page. We went for Bales, and then filled it in several different ways. I also had a rounded Bales and when my friend arrived, we started with a more regular and straight one. The most of the page was filled and I added some leaves.

Bales, Florz, Wirlz,Sampson, Printemps.. 19 October 2025

I brought my pattern sketchbook around to draw a bit in the beginning while waiting for somebody to join, and so I showed it to let the others choose some patterns. Maybe my friend was not so happy with the many flowers we had around. He drew his things, often taking inspiration from some of my tiles in the pattern sketchbook. But it is fine like this as well! I mean, everybody can draw exactly what they want, I like to be there to give ideas if somebody with less experience needs them.
I also did Icanthis, that is all but easy for a beginner.
We also have Lenche, one of my favourite patterns! And I think everybody liked it!

MoinMoin, Harp, Nanalee, Icanthis, Ciottoli, Toodles, Lenche. 19 October 2025

We stayed in the café for a while and also managed to start another drawing. My friend wanted something spiky and so I added dorn. He drew it differently, but it fit well in his page! And I think the idea was there. Then, alas, the call of flowers was as usual strong.
Dorn, Castelli. 19 October 2025

I then went to have dinner with my friend. The good part of having friends joining!
And later I finished the third tangle. A very light one.
Dorn, Castelli, Berberis, Mycena, Bamboline, Tetralix. 20 October 2025

And I finally shaded/colored everything yesterday... or today? It was probably after midnight, I watched Franz K in the cinema yesterday. A weird movie, but some scenes were filmed in Grand Café Orient, my favourite café on planet Earth!

Here I used some gelly rolls, but I will probably add something at a later point. Maybe pencils.

I am looking forward to see what will happen next Sunday at the fourth Zentangle Together!
